The unspoilt and historic white village of Comares is characterised by a winding maze of streets with a strong Moorish influence. The village can be found some 685 metres above sea level 25 km inland from Torre del Mar and 35 km from Malaga. One of the highest white villages in Andalucia, Comares is known as the ‘Balcony of the Axarquia' and is visible from afar. Because of its high altitude, the village itself has spectacular views of the whole region and is surrounded by stunning mountains and beautiful countryside.
The village community is served by a number of shops, a school, 16 th Century church, bank and swimming pool as well as bars and restaurants and a small hotel located on the main plaza. A number of fiestas throughout the year attract visitors from far and wide.
